Shooting Lessons

And when he saw their faith… Luke 5:20

• Get ready…

• Aim…

• BULLSEYE!

Look at your Faith like a bullet in a gun. However, just having a bullet isn’t enough. It must be positioned and placed properly in the firearm. You can’t aimlessly start shooting and expect to hit your target either. You have to sight your target, aim, cock, POW!!!

When you squeeze the trigger, know with full confidence that the target was Hit. The devil will flee when you pick up your gun of faith because he knows the POWER that is directing that bullet.

Warning: Never point an unloaded gun at the enemy.

The devil will snatch an unloaded gun away from you and load it with his deadly bullets. In Acts 19:13-16, there were exorcists who tried to cast out some evil spirits. One of the spirits spoke back and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” The evil spirits violently attacked the exorcists.

My advice is to take shooting lessons. These lessons consist of spending quality time in the presence of God. Live a prayer conscious life. Be familiar with Scriptures that will speak directly to your situation. Live your life according to the will of God, and stay dressed 24/7 in your suit of armor as described in Ephesians 6:11-18.

Taking just a couple of shooting lessons here and there will not make you a sharp shooter. These lessons must be a part of your everyday life while on earth.

Remember: Keep Your Gun LOADED At All Times!

A Public Service Announcement

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked, Ephesians 6:16.

• Beware of Dog…

• Beware of Explosives…

• Beware of Christian!

A couple of writings ago I said we should Show Our ID as a Christian. We should do this because we are a witness to those around us. However, there is another reason why we should show our ID. As a matter of fact, it should be boldly printed across our chest as a Public Service Announcement:

BEWARE—Christian!!!!!

Christians are not operating alone. There’s more to us than one can see with their natural eyes. Heaven’s got our back, Exodus 14:14. So, to the unsuspecting public, Watch Out!

I don’t mean to sound threatening, but people should know the danger they put themselves in when they attack God’s people. God said, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm, Psalm 105:15.

A few years ago I was brutally attacked. Nevertheless, my faith surfaced when I read Psalms 140, 141, 142, and 143. After reading those Psalms, I knew I was not alone and that it wasn’t my battle. God was my Strength and it was His battle. He was going to deal with the situation. It’s not a hard stretch to pity someone who will attack a Christian!

People shouldn’t be deceived and think they’ll only be

punished if they go after a Christian with the “big” stuff like murder

and burglary. We can murder with slander and gossip. We can burglarize someone by bearing false witness. We can stab someone in their back with our tongue; leaving them bleeding as we walk away tracking their blood on the bottom of our shoes. Well… I think you get the point.

Intimacy Generates POWER

Have faith in God, Mark 11:22b.

• Lovingly…

• Affectionately…

• It’s Personal!

There is something very special about setting aside time to be intimate with God every day. To have this quiet time in His Presence doesn’t have to take a long time. However, once this becomes a routine in your daily life; the time will increase out of your longing desire to be with Him.

I think I can safely say, we all want to pray Powerful Prayers. We want to know that our request is handled personally by God Himself. So, what is one of the key ingredients? We know faith is essential to answered prayers, because without it we can’t please God, Hebrews 11:6. I think developing an intimate relationship with God is another important factor. Being intimate with God makes Him seem more approachable, and approachability creates Trust. Faith then becomes inevitable.

When we develop this kind of close relationship with God and trouble hits, we don’t have to try and conjure up some faith, or hope and wish for some, faith is already there ready to perform.

I know this to be true from my own personal experience. When I became a principal in one of the roughest areas in Chicago, I would get to work before anyone else; go to my office with a cup of coffee, lights off, and pray. Spending time in the Presence of God was the Only way I survived. As a result, every challenging situation I encountered, God Fixed It.

When I first started working at that school, I was the assistant principal. God put in my spirit to just show up, treat people right, and that He would do the job for me, because I was His ambassador disguised as an assistant principal. I knew through that awareness that my purpose was to bring prayer into that school.

Spending this alone time with God gives Him the Recognition He Highly Deserves. This is a form of worship. He is our Creator. He loves us and knows what’s best for us. It’s the wisest thing we can do to start and end each day. I’m Living Proof That It’s Worth It!
