Week 70: THE Signature

                                         THE Signature

   A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness breathes out falsehoods, Proverbs 14:5 (AMP).

• Sign on the dotted line. . .

• Sign by the “x”. . .

• Sign next to your name. . .

         

   Some things we can just look at, listen to, or taste, and know the person who’s behind it. No one else can do it the way they can. Their uniqueness can only be admired, but never duplicated. It could be baking a cake, ironing a shirt, designing a suit, painting a picture, etc. When they produce their craft, it’s bares their signature.

         

          When I pray, I often find myself asking God to not only answer my prayer, but to sign it. That’s my way of saying, I want His Glory to shine so brightly that no one can take credit for His Miracle Working Power. I want skeptics to undoubtedly know and PLAINLY see: God’s Signature on it.

       

        I know they might not accept Him as their Savior, but I have a problem when people sign their name to the works of God.  

If it upsets me, imagine how it displeases God. He will not share His Glory with anyone, (Isaiah 42:8). But, we who are in Christ, must allow God to use us as His mouthpiece. Whenever the miraculous happens, we have to let people know:

                       Uh, excuse me, but that was God!

Week 69: Costumes

               Costumes

                                   Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit… I John 4:1.

• Mask. . .

• Disguise. . .

• Facade. . .

          We have to be careful not to be deceived by a person’s outwardly appearance, or by their job description, or by their good standing in society, or not. In other words, don’t be misled by the costumes people wear. My sister, Charmaine, told me that everybody has on a costume.

         We have to look beyond the obvious, and trust our faith to take a look at the spirit within. Who is this person anyway? We pay too much attention to the costume a person is wearing. I wonder how many people have married the wrong person, and overlooked the right person by looking at the costume they had on?  

          How many angels have we bypassed because they didn’t have on the “right” costumes? How many blessings have we overlooked because we misjudged the person carrying the miracle? People look on the outwardly appearance, but God sees the inner man (I Samuel 16:7). One of our daily prayers should be: Lord, please give me discernment, so I won’t be deceived by a person’s costume. Help me not to judge people for I am not qualified to do so.    

         It’s really amusing when we view the world as having on these costumes. Yes, the judge sitting behind the bench, the professor lecturing to students, and the banker granting or denying loan application are respectable people. But, who are these people without their costumes? When I retired from being a school principal, I started thinking: What kind of costume will I wear now? Hmmm!

Week 68: The Roller Coaster

                       The Roller Coaster

                                   Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not… Matthew 21:21

• Nosedives. . .

• Plunges. . .

• Dips & Drops. . .

    Life can be like a ride on a roller coaster. We can be riding smoothly along, when suddenly we’re jerked onto the fast track. The momentum speeds up to a ghastly rate. We’re screaming at the top of our lungs, as we make a nosedive down the cliff. Oh no! 

The good news is, even though the coaster takes a drop, it stays on the track. However, it might jerk us around with a few bumps, bangs, and jolts. Nevertheless, just in the nick of time it changes its course. A sane person wouldn't even consider getting on such a ride without the safety device in place to make the shifts at the right times.

                  God is our Safety Device. Things can get pretty scary at times. But as we pray, our faith reminds us that: God is at the Controls. God knows when to make the appropriate changes in our situations. He can make everything come to a squeaking halt—SUDDENLY, or He can cause us to ride it out.

Whichever way He chooses, the coaster stays on the track. Even if we can’t sense God’s presence, His eyes are watching us at all times (I Peter 3:12). He knows more about what we’re going through than we do. And He knows, more than us, how much we can take (I Corinthians 10:13).

     

                  I remember when I was faced with a horrible crisis. I had no idea I had enough faith to go through what I went through. But, now I know! My faith in God was the only thing that kept me going. If I had known ahead of time what I was going to have to face, I would have worried frantically and said, “No way I can go through that.”

      BUT, when I needed God’s Grace; grace was there. It seemed like my body shifted gears from panic to Peace. I like to say it this way: God Signed the Requisition that Released His Grace.    

         We might not like it at the time, but our faith develops from our roller coaster experiences. Those are the times when we learn firsthand about the Love and Faithfulness of Our Father.
