                                       Static!

  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

• Crackling sounds. . .

• Hissing noises. . .

• Buzzing vibrations. . .

zzzzzzzzzStaticzzzzzzzzzmazzzkeszzzzzzzzzzzzzzitzzzhardzzzzzzzzzz tzzzzozzzzheazzrzzzzzzzzzzzzclearly. Annoying isn’t it?zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

                             SAY WHAT?

It’s aggravating when you are trying to hear your favorite song and there’s a lot of crackling sounds going on. You try to ignore it—but can’t. What causes this irritating buzz? It could be caused by any number of things: faulty wiring, poor receiver, bad connection, inclement weather, and the list goes on, and on.

Static not only affects your natural hearing, but your spiritual hearing too. When other people’s opinions, bright ideas, beliefs, or counsel interfere with you being able to discern God’s voice, that’s called static. Trying to make decisions while listening to all this noise is dangerous. It can throw your life completely off course. How can you sort through all this hullabaloo?

 

First, you have to know the value of hearing from God. It’s an honor to be able to go to God, and get directions. No one can take the place of God’s wisdom. Who can be a better source than Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient when making a decision? …the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (I Corinthians 1:25)

Secondly, you have to know God’s voice. You become familiar with His voice by studying His Word, and by spending quality one-on-one time in His presence. After a while, wrong advice will begin to sound like clattering clamor. 
      The most important thing in life is to hear God and obey.
 

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27 NIV)

Finally, by faith you have to trust your spiritual ears. You might not discern  God’s voice 100% all the time, but don’t let that discourage you. This is a learning process. Profit from your error, and keep listening. Remember, you’ll never grow in this area if you’re always depending on someone else to do your hearing for you.

The person you’re depending on could have a hearing impediment.  Hmmm!

Yes, God will speak to us through people. However, we must go to God first, and let Him direct us to whom we should take guidance from. You see; you still have to hear God for yourself to even know who He wants you to go to. The only way you can believe that you are being directed by God iszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tozzzzzzzzzzzdevzzzzzzzelopzzzzzzzzzozzzzurzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz spiritzzzzzzzualzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzears.  Wezzzzzzzzzzzzzzdozzzzzzzzzzzzthatzzzzbyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz uszzzzzzzzzzingzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzthemzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Week 134: Just Passing By

                             Just Passing By              

                  For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corinthians 5:7

• Walk on by. . .

• Stroll on by. . .

• Strut on by. . .

Christians are just passing by. They are not of this world. (John 17:16) They are aliens. They are peculiar. (I Peter 2:9) The world can’t understand people who actually hear from, talk to, and obey God. Who are these strange beings? Why do they react to situations so differently from everybody else? How can they see beyond the obvious? Why aren’t they controlled by worry, and bound by fear? Why do they speak of hope when things are hopeless? They walk like they’re headed someplace, but where?    

                                Why are these outsiders here? 

These extraordinary people are here to do the will of God. They realize that they have an assignment(s) to do here on earth. God has provided them with everything they will need to get the job done. They are packing, but not limited to: gifts and talents; spiritual armor; prayer; peace; wisdom; guardian angels; and the Word of God. 

            ... greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I John 4:4

They have already been informed that their journey won’t be without demonic obstacles trying to take them off course. It says in John 16:33, that they will have tribulation. They know who’s behind the chaos. These remarkable people are not going to fall for the devil’s tricks; they will not let someone’s bitterness, hatefulness, insults, betrayal, and prejudice get the best of them.

They know they are under the surveillance of Almighty God, therefore, what can man do to them? (Romans 8:31) They also know that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. (Isaiah 54:17) Sure weapons will be formed but. . .  

                 Go ahead—shoot your best shot.

These peculiar folks will just keep on steppin′—as they pass right on by.

Week 133: It's Not Cheap!

                                It’s Not Cheap!

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written,

The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:17

   • Discounted. . .

• Cut-rate. . .

• Reduced. . .

                                                   

Whenever I buy appliances, I don’t necessarily buy the most expensive ones in the store; however, I never buy the cheapest. I can’t afford cheap. Cheap cost too much. Usually the quality, along with some other important part, is not there when you go cheap. When it falls apart, you’ll end up buying the same thing over, and over, and over again. That can add up!

This same principle can be applied when facing trouble. If the matter isn’t handled right, more than likely you’ll have to deal with it over; and over; and over again. I was inspired to write this blog when a newly saved Christian, who was going through a tough time, told her husband to go out and get her some booze. 

Guzzling down alcohol, drugs, and any other mind altering substance in order to escape—is a cheap shot; short lived.

                    Once the “high” wears off—then what? 

They’ll just have to keep drinking and drugging over and over again. Now the problem has escalated into a more serious situation—that’s exactly what the devil had planned from the start.

                         Believers grab the Bible—not the bottle.

Unknowingly to this lady, she could have had what no alcohol could produce, she could have had the peace of God. Being a new Christian, she had not fully grasped the love and power of God.   

When believers are faced with troubles, they don’t go cheap. They use their faith to receive top of the line help from the Lord. Nothing bought, over or under the counter, can compare to Hebrews 13:5b:

“I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” (AMP)

 God might take them through a learning process, but the Holy Spirit will comfort them with His peace as they go through. God assigns His angels to keep them in all their ways of obedience. He will give them sweet sleep.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:2)

Nevertheless, Divine help isn’t cheap. It comes with a price tag. The price is obeying God. Matthew 6:33 says to seek the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto us.

                                   Don’t Go Cheap—

                 Get Quality Help From God!
