Week 142: Guard Your Peace

                              Guard Your Peace
Fight the good fight of faith. I Timothy 6:12 (NIV)

• Stillness. . .
• Calmness. . .
• Tranquility. . .

Jesus gave us a powerful weapon against the kingdom of darkness—PEACE. How frustrating it must be for our enemies to launch their best attacks and we remain peaceful. Unknowingly to them what happens when a child of God is unjustly harmed. Uh-oh!
Peace is a form of spiritual warfare!
When we are attacked, it's human nature to want to strike back. Keep in mind that our real strength comes when we let the peace of God guide us. He is our umpire. (Colossians 3:15 AMP)

The stillness of peace helps us to hear the gentle voice of God. The calmness of peace gives us a level head to obey His voice, and the tranquility of peace restores our soul. Nothing is more powerful than Peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

The enemy is threatened by this and will do whatever it takes to get us to ditch our weapon. He knows the exact peace robbing tactic to use on each of us. What steals  your peace of mind might not threaten mine, and vice versa. Think about the low-key insidious peace stealers that sneak in unannounced. Plug up those entry ways. (See Week #60: Off Limits!)

 A Personal Example:
Overall I have a gentle nature. But, there are two things I will fight someone over; my peace of mind is one of them. I will go to great lengths to seal up any means for my peace to escape.

Before I retired as a school principal, I didn’t mind getting to work before sunrise and leaving very late after sunset. I did that because I NEVER brought work home with me. My home was my safe haven, a place to unwind. I didn’t answer the telephone while I was cooking, or before I ate my dinner. I wanted to enjoy my meals in peace. I didn’t open my mail until Saturday mornings when my head was much clearer. In other words, I didn’t take any chances of anything disturbing my weekday evenings.

While I drove to work the next day, I still wouldn’t think about that school until it was time for me to clock in. When I did, they had my full attention—that is until it was time for me to go home.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)
