Unraveling Faith
Why are ye
fearful, O ye of little faith? Matthew 8:26
• Undoing. . .
• Unstitching. . .
• Untying. . .
If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him
that believeth.
Mark 9:23
That
Scripture in Mark sounds simple and straightforward. But, don’t skip over the
two lettered word If. That simple
little word has clout. It’s the gatekeeper that releases God’s promises. If you—can
believe. . .
Doubting is the thread that unravels
faith.
Think
about a knitted sweater; if you pull the wrong thread, the whole thing could fall
apart. The same is true about faith. If you entertain doubtful thoughts, it
won’t be long before your faith will start to unravel.
Put a knot in it!
One
thing is for sure, if you are confused, that’s not God. Don’t continue to go
down that muddled road. You could get lost and never find your way back.
Instead
of rationalizing and debating the pros and cons of a situation, ask God for
direction. He will guide you if you are honestly seeking His way. Then, do whatever
He’s leading you to do.
Faith takes risks!
Remember,
God is not the author of confusion. (I Corinthians 14:33) Let the peace of God
be your guide. (Colossians 3:15-16)
Ways
to stop the unraveling:
1. Ask
God to help you with your unbelief. (Mark
9:24)
2. Find
Scriptures that will encourage your spirit. (Hebrews
4:12)
3. Line
your speech up with God’s Word. (Proverbs
18:21)
4. Stay
away from ungodly advice. (Psalm 1:1-3)
5. Identify
and act on your small clouds. (See Week 151: A Very Small Cloud)
No
matter how doubtful things may seem—
Don’t
pull that thread!
