Week 125: TRAPPED!

                                          TRAPPED!

But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

• STUCK!

• IMPRISONED!

• CONFINED!

Even though we’re caged in a human body, bound, and

constrained by laws of nature, we’re not TRAPPED.

          Since God has no boundaries, we’re not trapped. When we put our faith into God’s hands, latch on for a mind blowing ride. God makes the clouds His chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants. (Psalm 104:1-4 NIV)

             

At times we might feel trapped, and overwhelmed in what seems like no win situations. The human side of us will try and solve our own problems. I guess that has something to do with our survival instincts. As much as we would like to run things, we are still human—subjected to deception and physical limitations. 

BUT, God is not human. As long as we stay connected to Him, there are no limitations. No entrapment can supersede God’s promises to us:

• If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

• All things are possible to them that believe. (Matthew 19:26)

• Fear not I am with you. (Isaiah 41:10)

• Humble yourself before God and in due time He will exalt you. (I Peter 5:6)

 

       The physical body might be trapped, but the spirit is free in Christ. 

                                         Trapped? Unh-Unh!

Week 124: Not Funny!

                                          Not Funny!

            That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

           I Corinthians 2:5

• Disgrace. . .

• Degradation. . .

• Dishonor. . .

                                

          Have you watched television comedy lately? 
Some of the shows that are labeled as comedy—Not Funny! 

          One of the devil’s devices is to use comedy to camouflage corruption, perversion, and smart aleck kids in order to tear down the family and the moral structure of our society.

     Immorality mixed with a few laughs then pitched as harmless comedy.

                                                        Unh-Unh!

            I don’t watch those shows. But in order to intelligently write this blog, I had to watch a few. To be honest with you, it’s worse than I thought. Comedy shows have now become thirty minutes of sleaze. God’s name was used in vain on one of the shows. When I heard it, I had to rewind it several times to make sure I heard correctly. This and other abominations were offered as typical lines for people to laugh at throughout the program. 

              The public at large is slowly being brainwashed to accept this  

    immorality as family entertainment. Not at all—Funny!

If the world is bold enough to express the demoralizing spirit within them, then we should have the faith to be even BOLDER to express the Holy Spirit within us.

It’s hard to imagine that things can get any worse—but we know it will. In spite of what’s going on in the world, we as Christians have to position ourselves, and let the Light within us shine in all this darkness. 

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

I think the world in general respects us when we uncompromising walk in the integrity of our Savior. They should see if it dishonors God, 

                             Not Funny—Not Laughing!

Week 123: Let Go!

                                         Let Go!

                                For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corinthians 5:7

• SPLAT!

• THUMP!

• YIKES!

          It’s not much of a challenge to walk a plank when you’re holding the proper support, even if it’s highly elevated. If the truth be told, we should be able to walk a narrow plank without any support. It’s a trick of the mind that makes us think we can’t without falling. So, what it’s sixty stories high. It’s a flat surface!

          That same trick is played on us when we think we can’t completely let go and give our problems over to God. Faith tells us to let go, and trust God. Our carnal mind tells us to hold on, and figure it out.

 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter 5:6-7 NIV)

          Although, it’s hard to let go if we don’t have a trusting intimate relationship with God. We have to be familiar with His character to know He’s faithful. He loves us and wants the best for us. We will never go wrong letting go, and trusting God as our Support.

Even still, many times we feel irresponsible letting go. We feel we should be doing something to fix the dire situations we find ourselves. Well, when we put our problems into God’s mighty hands, that is the most powerful and sensible thing that we can do. We honor God by trusting Him, and when we leave the outcome up to His perfect will, that tops it off. Thy will be done. (Matthew 6:10)

                       

                       Effective faith requires letting go!  

Once we cast our cares into God’s mighty hands, we should then listen to Him, and follow His directions. God will tell us what He wants us to do, or not to do.

 But first, we must—         

                               Let Go!

                                              God Won’t Drop Us.
