Let
Go!
For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corinthians 5:7
•
SPLAT!
•
THUMP!
• YIKES!
It’s not much of a challenge to walk a plank when you’re holding the
proper support, even if it’s highly elevated. If the truth be told, we should
be able to walk a narrow plank without any support. It’s a trick of the mind
that makes us think we can’t without falling. So, what it’s sixty stories high.
It’s a flat surface!
That same trick is played on us when we think we can’t completely let go and give our problems
over to God. Faith tells us to let go, and trust God. Our carnal mind tells us
to hold on, and figure it out.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s
mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your
anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter 5:6-7 NIV)
Although, it’s hard to let go if we don’t have a trusting
intimate relationship with God. We have to be familiar with His character to know
He’s faithful. He loves us and wants the best for us. We will never go wrong
letting go, and trusting God as our Support.
Even
still, many times we feel irresponsible letting go. We feel we should be doing
something to fix the dire situations we find ourselves. Well, when we put our
problems into God’s mighty hands, that is the most powerful and sensible thing
that we can do. We honor God by trusting Him, and when we leave the outcome up
to His perfect will, that tops it off. Thy
will be done. (Matthew 6:10)
Effective faith
requires letting go!
Once
we cast our cares into God’s mighty hands, we should then listen to Him, and
follow His directions. God will tell us what He wants us to do, or not to do.
But first, we must—
Let Go!
God
Won’t Drop Us.
