Week 157: Ordinary People

Ordinary People

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

       Faith in God turns ordinary people into—extraordinary beings.

       The Bible gives accounts of ordinary people who made history doing extraordinary things. For example, Gideon the weakest of his clan was used to save Israel out of the hands of the Midianites. (Judges 6) God made a shepherd boy the King of Israel. (1Samuel) When Jesus chose His disciples, they were ordinary men living ordinary lives: Matthew was a tax collector; Peter, Andrew, James, and John were fishermen. God was able to use these ordinary people because they were obedient to His call.   

    When we are not obedient, we miss out! In John 2:1-10, Jesus’ first recorded miracle was when they ran out of wine at a wedding. Mary told the lowly servants, “Whatsoever He (Jesus) saith unto you, do it.” 

If they had not been obedient and filled the jars with water as they were told, they would have missed a mind-blowing miracle of water turning into wine. 

      Christians should not be deceived into thinking that they are too ordinary to be used by God. If the truth be told, God warns against self-exalted, bigger than life, haughty spirits. (Proverbs 16:18)

                                    Humility bows to God’s glory.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:6 (NIV)

God didn’t create us all to be geniuses. God knows our range of intelligence—after all He made us. He placed gifts and talents inside each of us to be used to the scope of our intellect. Therefore, we are all capable of doing whatever God ask us to do. 

If you feel you’re living a dull-boring life, you should ask yourself: “Am I  willing to do God’s will?” There is nothing uninteresting about a life with: Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience running it.            

                           

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is

from God and not from us. II Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)

   

                                    As we go about our lives, keep in mind:

                 We are now the ordinary people who are

                            making tomorrow’s history!

Week 156: Recap

This Week Paulette Talks Faith is Three Years Old. Please help me celebrate with this special lighthearted writing called Recap.

•  I need to read that one again. . .

          Paulette Talks Faith is three years old which comes to a total of 156 writings. If I had to come up with one theme for year three it would be: For Such A Time As This we have to Trust God or Go Stone Crazy!

            Each day As The World Crumbles around us with wickedness, we have to heed the warning: Watch out—Don’t Trip. The Bogeyman wants to keep us Trapped in iniquity so that he can spread his wickedness.

 

This monster is so shrewd that he will have us deceived into fighting battles that are just a Shadow on the Wall, just to keep us busy while he baits us into a Street Fight—Not Funny! By the time he’s finished smacking us upside our head, we’ll be wondering: Do I Need A Faith Lift?  

If we Follow the Instructions of doing right, we’ll successfully get out of The Web that the enemy has set. Though, it’s a nonstop job to constantly tune out the Static around us, and pay attention to Who’s in Our Ear? By listening to the wrong people, we’ll be faced with compromising Conflicts of Interest. 

In times like these, we have to run and find The Eye of the Storm. We must Let Go and let God fight our battles. Then we must Guard Our Peace, so we can have A Freed-Up Mind in order to rest, and Go to Sleep at night.  

The good news is, we are connected to Heaven’s Generator: A Divine Hookup; Bodyguards included. However, they’re Not Cheap! Price tag: Obedience +Love =Power. Don’t Think Too Hard about this. There are No Exemptions! Our attitude should be, no matter the price: I’m Gonna′ Do it Anyhow!

 

Believe It or Not—it’s worth the sacrifice to have this round the clock:

Week 155: Unraveling Faith

Unraveling Faith

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Matthew 8:26

• Undoing. . .

• Unstitching. . .

• Untying. . .

If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23

That Scripture in Mark sounds simple and straightforward. But, don’t skip over the two lettered word If. That simple little word has clout. It’s the gatekeeper that releases God’s promises. If you—can believe. . .

           Doubting is the thread that unravels faith.

Think about a knitted sweater; if you pull the wrong thread, the whole thing could fall apart. The same is true about faith. If you entertain doubtful thoughts, it won’t be long before your faith will start to unravel. 

                                                 Put a knot in it!

                                

One thing is for sure, if you are confused, that’s not God. Don’t continue to go down that muddled road. You could get lost and never find your way back. 

        

Instead of rationalizing and debating the pros and cons of a situation, ask God for direction. He will guide you if you are honestly seeking His way. Then, do whatever He’s leading you to do.

                                          Faith takes risks!

Remember, God is not the author of confusion. (I Corinthians 14:33) Let the peace of God be your guide. (Colossians 3:15-16)

Ways to stop the unraveling:

1.     Ask God to help you with your unbelief. (Mark 9:24)

2.     Find Scriptures that will encourage your spirit. (Hebrews 4:12)

3.     Line your speech up with God’s Word. (Proverbs 18:21)

4.     Stay away from ungodly advice. (Psalm 1:1-3)

5.     Identify and act on your small clouds. (See Week 151: A Very Small Cloud)

No matter how doubtful things may seem—

Don’t pull that thread!
