Tailor-Made

Tailor-Made

·        If you ask me, you should …
·        You are just too weak ...
·        I wouldn’t put up with that mess…
·        Don’t worry. I’ll fix everything…

The personal tests we face in our lives don’t come in one size fits all. These tests are tailor-made to try, prove, and develop our faith. Some are challenging while others are so subtle that many times we can’t even tell that we’re being tested. However the type; every stitch, cut, and dart are lessons we can grow from.

Things get complicated when we try, out of love or concern, to take tests for someone else. How can we take a test for someone when the test is testing the hidden motives in their heart? How can we take a test for someone when the test is measuring their endurance level?

Before we get too involved and offer advice, or better put, before we even give our opinion, we should ask God for Wisdom. What does He want us to do or say, or not do or not say? God knows how He wants to use us, or not, in a particular situation based on our experiences. Do we fully understand what the other person is going through? A test for one person might not be a test for someone else. It’s tailor-made.

For example, to let a man abuse me verbally or physically wouldn’t be my test. I would just LEAVE, or put him OUT, plain and simple. Bye!  But, for someone else, this might be a Major Situation. There are factors to be considered that I would just walk right over. I don’t have the sensitivity to advise someone in that kind of predicament. I could do more harm than good.

Another example, suppose a person is trying to lose weight. If that’s not a problem for you, you might look at them and say, “Just Stop Eating So Much!” Easy for you to say because it’s not your test.

Since tests are tailor-made, we should put our Faith and Trust in God, and let the Holy Spirit instruct us.  © 2013
