Nelson
Mandela
He Stood Up on the Inside!
•
Strong
convictions…
•
Strong
spirit…
Looking over Nelson Mandela’s life, there’s
a powerful lesson to be learned: The Strength
of One’s Inner Spirit. Regardless of the degradable hardships he went
through, he never lost sight of who he was. He was a man
who STOOD UP ON THE INSIDE!
What do I mean: He Stood Up on the Inside?
Even though he was imprisoned unjustly, He didn’t let people tell him who he was,
HE TOLD THEM WHO HE WAS, by the way he carried himself. The positive
attitude he had about himself. The self-dignity he displayed.
Nelson Mandela suffered
deplorable conditions while in prison. Unnecessary measures were done on
his behalf. Nevertheless, he held his self-worth and value.
NO
ONE WAS GOING TO BREAK HIS SPIRIT!
As time passed by, he won over the most
brutal prison officials to his will. He was given certain privileges and leadership.
They Didn’t Broke His Spirit, He Broke Theirs!
I’m reminded of Joseph when he was thrown
into prison for the lie Potiphar’s wife told on him. Joseph had God’s favor on
him, and he ended up in charge of the prisoners, Genesis 39:21-22.
When Nelson Mandela was released after 27
years, he did not return to the world with malice in his heart, because to do
that, he would have lost the remaining years of his life. Instead, He Became the First Black President of
South Africa, and He Found Love and Romance.
His journey is a
lesson in the power of one’s inner spirit. No matter what
hardship we might endure in our bodies, no matter how much torture might come our
way, a person cannot capture a man’s
spirit without that man’s permission.
When Nelson Mandela was locked up behind prison walls, they couldn’t silence the message that came
from within him. And, now that he’s gone, the Grave Can’t Silence Him Either.
KEEP STANDING UP ON THE INSIDE!
