WHO SAID THAT?
•
Was that God?
•
Was that me? Or,
•
Was that the devil?
I think it’s safe for me to say that we
want to be able to hear from God. We
might not always do what He tells us, but that’s a whole different story.
Nevertheless, I think we still want to be able to distinguish His voice. But, at
times the devil and even our own self-doubts will make us wonder if what we heard was from God.
The All-Time
DILEMMA:
“Was that God, or was that me, or was that the devil?”
One day God gave me a great revelation that might help you if you’re having
problems distinguishing His voice. God put in my spirit, “If you take yourself out of the equation, it will be simpler to
discern who said it—the devil or Me. If what you heard lines up with My Word,
then assume it was Me talking. If it doesn’t line up with My Word, then you
definitely know it wasn’t Me. I will never contradict My Word.”
The more we practice hearing, the better our hearing will
become.
1.
Know God’s Word to know His Character.

3.
Step Out on Faith.
The devil is all about confusion. He
wants us to doubt our ability to hear because that gives him free range to
insert his lies without dispute. However,
we have got to come to the fact that we are bound to make mistakes with “who
said that” every now and then. But
still, we have to keep trying and move forward.
I felt I heard from God when I started
this blog. Writing every week is
excellent practice for me to listen and write what I feel God is telling me. Of
course, the devil made his comments known telling me that I’m making a fool out
of myself, and that no one wants to read it. BUT, by faith I’m doing it ANYWAY,
and have received favorable responses.
Let that encourage you. Take a step of faith, and do what you feel God is prompting you to do. If you play it
too safe, you could miss out on God’s perfect plan for your life. Count it as
a learning experience if you miss Him. At least then, you are one step
closer to recognizing His voice.
It’s like learning to ride a bike without
training wheels. We will at times fall, but it’s part of the process of
learning to ride. The good news for us is, if we fall trying to do the will of
God, He’s there to lift us up, Psalm 37:24.
