Week 80: How to Win a Spiritual Fight

How to Win a Spiritual Fight
Fight the good fight of faithI Timothy 6:12
• Love. . .
• Mercy. . .
• Reconciliation. . .

It’s not your fight—so don’t get in the middle of it. Take cover in the Secret Place. (Psalm 91) The battle belongs to the Lord. (II Chronicles 20:15) When we are serving God, the enemy will attack us trying to get to God’s Kingdom.

Let God Win the Battle for You.

One of the hardest things for us to do is resist using physical/emotional weapons to fight a spiritual war. Our physical/emotional weapons only hurt us—they are ineffective to the real enemy. He’s somewhere laughing while we waste our energy and blessings trying to attack him. Spiritual fights must be fought spiritually.

It takes faith for us to let God fight our battles. We have to listen to His Commands, and do whatever He says. If we don’t, we’re taking our orders from the enemy. It’s our choice! But tell me, why would the adversary give us advice that would do him harm? We know he’s not to be trusted. He will give us a feather to scratch an itch. He’s not going to tell us that the feather will tickle the itch even more. When we follow his commands, we are amusing him.

We Have to Stop Being the Devil’s Entertainment!

                              Examples of Weaponry:
Physical/Emotional Weapons:                                 Spiritual Weapon:
Unforgiveness                                                         Love!
Strife
Revenge
Avenge
Hatred
Racism
Malice
Curses
Cruelty
Brutality
Spitefulness
Exploitation
                                       The lists are loped-sided.
All the POWER is on the Right!

Week 79: Don't Settle for Good

                           Don't Settle for Good
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

• It’s okay . . .
• It’s nice. . .
• It’s good enough. . .

Why settle for good when you can have God’s BEST? Hmmm! You can pretty much tell when you are settling. There’s a restlessness in your spirit that lets you know, “I can do better.”
                      WARNING: Don’t ignore that uneasiness!

However, you can talk yourself into believing good is okay. It’s nice. It’ll be just fine. After all, good is good. Right?

So, what stops many of us from God’s Best when we know we are settling? I’m sure there are many reasons. I can think of four illegal suggestions right off.

(1). Fear – Can’t do any better.
(2). Undeserving – Don’t deserve any better.
(3). Impatient – Gotta have it NOW!
(4). Tired/Slothfulness – The best will take too much effort.

Though, there are those times when you really can’t tell what’s best. Why play the guessing game? The Holy Spirit will help you not to compromise, cut yourself short. Ask Him, “Should I take this, or wait for something better?” When you go to God with a sincere heart of wanting His guidance, you have to know by faith that He will lead you. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

                   Good works———————for a while.
Wouldn’t you rather have God’s BEST?

Week 78: Let God Take the Lead!

                                           Let God Take the Lead!
Now the just shall live by faithHebrews 10:38

   • Maybe I should do this???
   • Maybe I should do that???
   • Maybe I shouldn’t???

It makes sense to let the sighted one take the lead. Let God do the SEEING, and we do the trusting. Proverbs 3:6 says that He will direct our path.

Every day we are faced with choices and decisions. Most of these choices and decisions are usually not life altering like should I wear the blue or black suit? Should I order the fried chicken, or the roasted duck dinner?

However, there are those times when we are faced with choices that will produce more significant outcomes. The aftermath of these decisions will be felt for years to come. I’ve made some of those life altering decisions that I lived to regret. It was ludicrous for me to take the steering wheel when I had no idea where I was going. Nevertheless, I learned a very valuable lesson that I will never forget:
                                                 Let God Take the Lead!
But, how do we know which way to go when the right path is uncertain? Which path should we take when God is silent? We have to: stop, pray, and then walk the path by faith. Which path? The one we feel is right. This is how He teaches us to sense His leading. How can a baby learn to walk if they’re always carried?

Pray and tell God that you are going down this “certain” road until you get a leading from Him. Let Him know to please, please redirect you if you are headed in the wrong direction. If you are opened and flexible to changing your route, you’ll hear Him better. However, if you are stoned walled about your own notions, you probably won’t listen.

At the age I am now, I don’t have time to make a big life altering mistake. I want to enjoy the days I have left, not spend them trying to dig myself out of some hole that I could have avoided if only I had let God take the lead.
